Harvest Tea at Gibson House Museum - October 21 at 12:00 noon

Following the fall harvest, come to Gibson House Museum to relax and enjoy a Victorian-inspired harvest tea. Enjoy finger sandwiches and sweets in the historic 1850s farmhouse in the company of our costumed interpreters. Guests may tour the museum at their leisure and can enjoy the apple orchard in the adjacent Gibson Park following the tea.

Pre-payment is required and seating is limited, so book your tickets today!

    Hearth Cooking Workshop: On the Trail at Gibson House Museum - November 4
    Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Mr. Gibson travelled throughout Upper Canada as a land surveyor. Share stories and experience trail food cooked over the hearth. This hands-on workshop is led by an experienced historic cook.

    In Conversation with Alias Grace Costume Designer Simonetta Mariano at Gibson House Museum - Nov. 12
    Sunday, Novemeber 12, 2017 2 p.m.

    Join us for a unique opportunity to hear Simonetta Mariano discuss the process of designing the stunning costumes for the new CBC adaptation of Margaret Atwood's novel Alias Grace. The talk will be followed by refreshments inspired by the food in Alias Grace and the opportunity to view Gibson House, a mid-nineteenth century farmhouse, just like the Kinnear farmhouse featured in the novel. The visit will be complemented by period music played by flute player Jamie Thompson.

Costumed interpreters will serve a selection of finger sandwiches, seasonal sweets and home baked scones with steaming cups of tea. Tour our charming, mid-19th century historic house at your leisure and enjoy the authentic seasonal decorations.

Be lulled by the fire and moved by the music. Take an imagined journey through story and drama to a New Year of another time. As the evening closes, come together with staff to welcome our First Footer, celebrate our 2017 season, Canada's Confederation and bring luck and best wishes to Gibson House Museum for 2018.
